Learn How to Create a Awesome Glowing Text Effect

Hi guys, today I’m here with a text effect tutorial. In this tutorial we are going to learn how we can create a beautiful fancy glow text effect. And trust me; it’s not that complicated as you think.
So let’s get started but first we need some important things to create this awesome effect. Here’s what we need. We need 2 brush sets Flower Brush set and Starz Brush set.  Now we have everything we need so let’s get started.



Final result:-

Step 1:-

So let’s start first we’ll open illustrator and create a new document.

Step 2:-

Now select the “Text Tool” and add “G” with any solid bold font you like.

Step 3:-

Click on Effect>3D> extrude & bevel.

Keep the setting same as follows:-

And now we have something like this.

Step 4:-

Add some more letters by repeating the same method.

Step 5:-

Now select the text. And then click on “Edit” Tab and then click “Copy”. Or simply select the text and press “CMD+C” if you are using Mac and “Ctrl + C” for PC users.

Step 6:-

Now open your Photoshop. And create a “new file” with 700px width and 500px height.

Step 7:-

Now we’ll paste our 3D text. For this click on Edit>Paste. And paste as Pixel.

Step 8:-

Now I’ll bright up the colors of the text. We mainly focus on the colors of the 3D shadow. For this, press “Ctrl/CMD + U”.  Or click on “Image> Adjustments>Hue/saturations”.  And Change the color until you get a nice bright combination.

Step 9:-

Now before you go head and make some changes to our text let’s color the background black or #000000.

Step 10:-

Now, let’s decorate our text. First make sure you create a new layer for every step. You can do that by simply clicking “Layer>New> New Layer”.  One we have a new layer to work on. Select the “pen tool“. And make a rough selection of the front part of our “G”.

Step 11:-

Once we are selected the “G”. Then right click on it. And select “Make selection” from the options.

Step 12:-

Now I’m going to use a gradient on our selected area. Make sure you have new layer is selected. Now I’ll use the gradient similar to our shadow color.

Then I added the “Outer glow” to our gradient layer, for this, click of “Layer> Layer Style> Outer Glow”.  As my “G” has purple color I’ll add the outer glow of the similar color. So I’ve used # b88abd for my outer glow.

Repeat the same process for all letters. And we’ll get something like the image below.

Step 13:-

Now I’m going to use the brushes from the flower brush set mentioned above, with foreground color #ffffff. Now let’s use the brush on our “G”. And then click on Layer> Layer style> Outer Glow.  Now make sure outer glow color is #ffd83c, blending mode “Linear Dodge (Add)” and 100% opacity.

Now we have something like this.

Now repeat the same process on all the remaining letters by using different brushes for each letter. And add the outer glow with the same setting.

Step 14:-
Now before we go on and add some decorations to our text first create a new layer and place it above our main background layer. Then select “Hard Round brush”. And use it with randomly with different color and size.

Now reduce the opacity to 25%. So now we have something like this.

Step 15:-

Now I’m using the brush with foreground color #ffffff. You can use the brush whichever you like it’s really up to you.

Now let’s add “Outer Glow” to it, for this click on Layer> Layer Style> Outer Glow.  With color #ffd800 and keep the setting same as follows.

Step 16:-

Now use some more brushes here and there on our “GLOW”.

Now use the outer glow with the same setting as above. And we’ll get something awesome like this.

Step 17:-

Now let’s finish it up by adding some small glittering stars. Download our free starz brush set and use the single star brush for this. Keep the foreground color #ffffff and size should be 10px. Then let’s add the outer glow to our starz. For this select the star layer and then click on Layer> Layer Style> Outer Glow. With color #ffd800 and keep the other settings same as follow.

And now we are done. Let’s have a look at our final result.
